Meet T.J. O'Pootertoots, feline extrordinaire.

I started back at work yesterday. Guess that whole Powerball plan didn't work out after all.

And I have a nasty head cold, the kind that manifests itself by oozing interestingly-colored substances out of your nostrils in a slow, steady stream whilst leaving your head feeling as if it were slowly being squeezed under a steamroller.

I feel gross.

Maybe this weekend, if I'm feeling better, I'll go and get another of those green drinky thingys.

Or maybe I'll go and get a cat.
Oh, silly me- I already went and got one!
Did I forget to mention this? Did I?
To ease ourselves into the wide wonderful world of pet ownership, I thought we should "build up" to a dog.

Meet Pooter.

I can tell she loves me already.

Busy week. Did I mention that I feel gross? But I love my sexy new feline friend, even though I'm slightly allergic- which is making the head cold that much more spectacular.

Pooterpooterpooterpooterpooterpooterpooter....
I love my Pooter.

And no, I am NOT turning into a "cat person", I promise. I will not subject y'all to piles of pictures of my cat eating, playing, pooping, dressing in costume...(o.k, maybe the last one, but not the rest.) I will not start referring to myself as her "mommy".
I am not, nor will I ever be, a "cat person"
No need to panic, o.k?

Gotta go.
Damn work, always getting in the way of my laziness.

Here Kitty, Kitty, Kitty - such a beautiful little thing.

Did that drink come out of your nose? Looks like the liquids you were describing... Have fun at work!

Pooter is already waiting for mommy to come home :) Sorry, couldn't resist.

One word: nasonex. AKA sweet nectar of the gods.

I'll admit, I'm surprised you didn't hold out until you found a cat that had a coat closely resembling leopard print.

I'm jealous. I'm in love with the idea of being a pet owner but sometimes I wonder if I beg for one because Ryan flat out refuses. It's safe that way, you know?

Let me know how Pooter changes (or doesn't) things for you.

Oh, and I think that from now on you should write every post as if Pooter was writing it... just like my friends who have had children.

"Today my mommy gave me Tender Vittles. I LOVE Tender Vittles!"

I miss my kitty. I now live my cat lady tendencies through other people who have kitties. Please post pics for me!

If you don't post photos of the cat in costume, I'll be seriously disappointed. Congratulations!

Aw! Cute! (I don't refer to myself as a cat "mommy," but I do refer to my cats as the children. Does that make me a crazy cat lady? I really am more of a dog person, I just kind of wound up with these two felines living in my space...)

(Work always does that to me, too. Fucking work.)

Even I can't resist the urge of dressing my cat up. Besides the bow pictures I actually posted, Sunshine and I had fun trying to make her wear a small santa hat. I think the best part of it are the looks of sheer hatred she gives me while I'm doing it...yet she takes it. She has claws...I know if I were in her ah...shoes?...I would have scratched my eyeballs out.

Anyway. Um. What were we talking about? Oh, yes, your Pooter. Lovely. Just lovely. I hope you and your guy enjoy snuggling with your Pooter all night. Unless your Pooter gives you rashes (like my cat gives me). Then I hope your Pooter likes feet.

(I love your cat's name, btw.)

(Also, Green Tea with Ginseng, lemon and Honey. Three cups a day. Head cold = gone.)

Welcome to the Kitty Club! We do not let people in who claim their pets are their children or that they are pet's mommy. Those people get beat up in the alley after school and left to rot.

Nice looking kitty. Will look pretty rockin' in a can-can outfit... I'm just saying.

You should send Pooter around the country visiting other bloggers, like IHoG. How much postage would that require do you think?

I don't want him though. I'm a dog person.

She's gorgeous. How did her and IHoG get along?

Stacy said...

WOW. You are the last person I would figure to get a kitty. I LOVES me the kitties. I'm also allergic and my spouse is allergic to cleaning up a cat box.

I can't wait to meet her!!

Pooter! The name alone makes me swoon.

Welcome to the Crazy Cat Lady Society my friend. Welcome.

Pooter!!!! She's the cutest!!

Just wait...you will be tempted. I guarantee it.
You won't tell us about it but it will happen. I can see it now. You will miss Pooter all day and then you'll come home scoop Pooter up in your arms and say "Mommy loves you".
Then it will progress into "do you need a friend during the day while Mommy and Daddy are gone ?"
Then you will get a second cat and name him Tooter and then we will have lost our WM to the crazy cat lady world.

;)

YAY for cats! I love my cats! I have two of them, but really I'm more of a dog person. I only have one of them because unfortunately I am also a husband person (onle one of those as well) and my husband is not a pet person. It's a crazy mixed up world. I can't wait to see pics of your cat in costume. Really more I can't wait to hear what happens when you try to PUT your cat in a costume. I hope you feel better soon...I've had my cold going on 3 weeks now..it's no fun really..

Um, is this a joke?

I too used to scorn people who referred to themselves as "mommy" to their pets. How lame, I thought.

Then one day I got home from work and asked Buggles in a singsong voice, "Did you miss your mommy today buggles? Did you? DID you?"

And it just felt right.

lizgwiz said...

You say "cat person" like it's a bad thing. ;)

Yeah, somewhere in the deep recesses of this laptop lies a picture of our cat with My Guy's jeans on. Not sure how it was done...I wasn't home when it happened. My Guy might have had something to do with it...or my cat grew thumbs that day.

My grandparents just got 2 new kittens.
Rico and Lola.
Have fun with Pooter!

I love cats and cats are good! So therefore (stay with my pussy logic please) you are good!

I have not been around much and when I stay away I end up reading a lot and laughing too much. My tummy hurts and I spilled a lot of wine!

I'm not a cat person. AT ALL. But I am secretly tempted to send you one of these, now that you're ONE OF THEM (don't deny it!):

The only thing better than the name Pooter is that picture of him (or her). Congratulations.

That martini looks like Absinthe. Your dress style rocks WM, always a surprise what you're sporting next.

What a beautiful cat. Where did you get her? I look forward to reading about Pooter's new adventures at Casa De Whiskey.
By the way, where do you get your postcards? I love those things!

Eek! Cat lady!

Metalia- I was TOTALLY going to buy one of those wigs (the blue one).

Then I saw it was FIFTY DOLLARS.

I think I'll try making one instead.

i wish i were a cat person but alas, i'm deathly allergic.

BUT! i'm not allergic to green drinks!

oh, and get to feeling better, will you?

Can I just say that I love that you named your cat after an old Ben Stiller sketch? You have excellent taste.

Cherann said...

Why'd you get a cat? I have 3 cats and I loved them . . . that is until I had kids. Then they kind of just got annoying and at times, dangerous (kids don't play too nicely with cats).

Whiskeymarie said...

joe- Can I say that I love that someone finally got the joke? My poor cat.
"Pooter is peoplllleeee!"

Cherann- We are trying to "work up" to a dog as my Mr. has NEVER had any pets ever, and while I grew up with many cats & dogs, it's been 18+ years since I've had a pet either.
Hopefully this summer, a dog.

oh. welcome to the amazing new world of obsessive love. you will post shitloads of cat pictures. you will swoon when she purrs up against you.

you are, in a nutshell, screwed.
